At MAF, we are dedicated to building a stronger, healthier, and more compassionate community. Our work is two-fold, addressing both food insecurity and the impact of gun violence in Greensboro.
Did you know that more than 88,000 people in Guilford County are unsure when their next meal will come? In North Carolina, 1 in 6 children go hungry. Within our school system, 62% of children come from low-income families, meaning over 45,000 children may need food assistance (Guilford County Schools).
While 81 schools in Greensboro qualify for free and reduced lunches, many children who are food insecure do not qualify for these programs. Over 23% of children in Guilford County are food insecure, which means almost half of Greensboro residents potentially face hunger and poor nutrition every day.
We are partnering with the Greensboro School District to provide healthy lunches for children who lack access to nutritious food. Our goal is to ensure that no child goes hungry, giving them the nourishment they need to thrive and succeed.
Fighting Gun Violence
Did you know that Greensboro continues to see an increase in gun violence year over year? We believe in creating a safer, healthier, and happier place to live, work, and play.
Our History
Seeing a need to raise awareness to the rising crime and to the food deserts in our community, we formed our organization to raise money to support non-profits and organizations in our community that help keep this community safe and healthy!
Greensboro Police
We are collaborating with the Greensboro Police Department to provide holiday meals annually to families affected by gun violence. Each year, the police department introduces us to families struggling with loss, unanswered questions, and grief. As they work to move forward without their loved ones, we prepare and hand-deliver holiday meals to show them that we care about their well-being and are there for them in times of need.
Join us in our mission to nourish children and support families in Greensboro. Your involvement and support can make a significant impact on the lives of those in our community. Together, we can build a stronger, more caring Greensboro.
